New Cool Collective

15-09 New Cool Collective releases a preview of Electric Monkey Sessions 2

Today New Cool Collective releases a preview of the upcoming album Electric Monkey Sessions 2, which will be released on the 24th of November. Once again the band members of New Cool Collective went to the Electric Monkey studio in Amsterdam, with the idea of creating an even more raw and analog sound. The album tour starts on the 29th of November in Paradiso Noord.

The recordings took place in the purest form: with all the band members in one room, only a couple of microphones, a couple of takes, directly recorded on tape. The analog space dubs from the owner/engineer Kasper Frenkel complete the vintage atmosphere. The result is a very versatile album with a stubborn psychedelic cumbia vibe.

Next year the band members will celebrate their 25-year anniversary, but before that, this nineteenth album of the eight-headed band will be released as a follow up of their very successful and praised album: Electric Monkey Sessions, which was released in 2014.

New Cool Collective: “Remembering the vibe of our Electric Monkey Sessions recordings in 2014 we just had to go back to that same place and it’s owner, engineer Kasper Frenkel.

Again, the eight of us, all in the same room, bouncing off each other, while Kasper captures the moment, adding a bit of extra flavour with his Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry style dub set-up. Old school recording, a couple of takes for each song, some even straight to tape, no overdubs (well, hardly any…).

We’re excited! We’re proud of this album and anxious to play the tracks live.

The song ‘Machu Picchu’ is now available on all digital platforms. The album can be pre-ordered both digital and physical, on cd and limited edition colored vinyl.

With their new music, New Cool Collective will tour across the country, making a party, on which the crowd can’t stand still and will be surprised repeatedly.
