About

Inge van Calkar is often referred to as the Dutch Kylie Minogue, but she prefers to speak of ‘Kylie meets Garbage’. In her music she combines 90’s synthpop and mainstream with a rock edge. With her strong band and – at the bigger shows even with dancers – her concerts are packed with energy. Her tightly directed show is made to entertain and perfectly suited for festivals.

Once started as a singer-songwriter, Inge van Calkar is not afraid to switch things up. With the summer hit ‘Touchdown’, which was chosen as Topsong at NPO Radio 2 in 2019, it was finally clear that she has found her own sound. On the EP Full Color (2021) we hear an Inge van Calkar who has left the old songwriter behind for good. Electropop, ripping synths, inescapable guitars, and all of this to a danceable beat. Full Color is partly the result of Inge’s collaboration with critically acclaimed producer Gordon Groothedde. In addition to the top song ‘touchdown’, the singles ‘spinning around, the ocean never ends’ and ‘summerrain’ also makes the playlist rotation on Dutch national radio.

A prestigious award follows: at the Popgala Noord, during Eurosonic 2021, Inge received the Best Artist award, previously won by Dutch artists like Kraantje Pappie and Blanks. Inge has also been nominated for a Buma award (2022) in the category ‘Best Sync’ with her song ‘The Iceman’, which ended up in the popular Belgian TV series D5R.

December 2021 saw Inge sign with Cloud9, a record label well known for their successes in the Dance and Pop scenes. Her first release on Cloud9 ‘Back to Life’ is currently on high rotation on radio Veronica. Bospop, the prestigious festival in Limburg, has included Inge and her band in the line up for the 2022 edition. Inge gets a chance to perform on the same stage as Sting, Melissa Etheridge and Kensington. Dutch newspaper Dagblad van het Noorden just gave her live show 4 stars, calling it a ‘Breathtaking Roller Coaster’.

Well, you just have to see it to be able to talk about it!
