The dates of birth in the passports of Middelburg’s indie rock band PEER are 1998 and 1999. Incredibly, these young musicians have already appeared at many major festivals, won numerous competitions and received glowing reviews.
Within months of forming, the band won the 2014 Buma Music Academy Award and a series of regional band competitions. Early 2015 they released ‘Change Me’, their first single, recorded with producer Eric van Tijn, assisted by Lange Frans. Several gigs later, including Concert at Sea and support for Jett Rebel, in late 2015 they released a second single and video clip ‘Get Out!’.
Recently they appeared live on Radio 3FM and Veronica, while the band was in the main line-up at Racoon & Friends, VestRock, and made a second appearance at Concert at Sea; 3voor12 Zeeland hailed PEER as best of the ten top performances at Vestrock 2016. The band was also selected for the ‘Popronde’ in 2016, which is the largest traveling festival of the country.
Accessible indie rock with energy bouncing off in every direction. On stage the chemistry between these four musicians is palpable: dynamic rock with an Arctic Monkeys edge and memorable melodious choruses. VPRO’s 3voor12 believe these guys have the potential to conquer the country.
In late 2016 PEER released a third single and music video ‘Will Not Be There’.
The new single ‘I Don’t Wanna’ appears in March; followed by the long awaited debut EP ‘Mad For It ‘ that is scheduled for release in April. ’Mad For It’ contains seven powerful songs produced by Huub Reijnders and BLØF bassist Peter Slager.
